Lisa Pettitt, PhD
We will practice gentle yoga asana as well as pranayama (breathing practice) with mindfulness to help us reconnect body and mind in the present moment.
This class welcomes beginners or people seeking an encouraging, accessible class; let Lisa know if you have any physical limitations.
Throughout her years of yoga practice, training, and teaching, Lisa has experienced the beneficial effects of joining mind and body in the present moment. She aspires to guide students toward creating these experiences for themselves through explorations of yoga poses (asanas), breathing techniques (pranayama), and meditation (dhyana). She believes that the well-being of individuals and collectives is nourished by the mental, physical, and emotional development of both strength and flexibility. Lisa completed her 200-hour yoga teaching certification in 2016 with Asana Studio’s Connect Yoga Teacher Training in Arvada, Colorado. She has spent over two decades studying and practicing meditation and mindfulness in the tradition of Vietnamese Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh.
Lisa also has a PhD in Developmental Psychology. She is a feminist who has learned about disability and self-advocacy from her sister with Down Syndrome and anti-racism and intersectionality from wise and generous women and men of color. Lisa volunteers with high school students around topics of environmental activism and positive youth development and spends time in contemplation and deep listening.

Human beings are storytellers. We’ve told stories through art and later writing since we took our first steps on planet earth. Have you ever really listened to the story you tell about yourself? Each of us has an inner narrative that constantly runs. That inner narrative is telling us a story about who we are and how the world works. To top it off, we often allow others to contribute to our own story.
In human design, we say that our story acts as a filter between us and the unlimited possibilities in the quantum field.Conditioning is anything that pulls us away from our core authentic being (letting other people contribute to our story). If we want to experience something different in our lives, we need to examine how our story is limiting the possibilities and rewrite it.
In this workshop, we’ll use journaling, storytelling and coaching to discover the parts of our story that aren’t true. Once we discover these parts that aren’t helping, we’ll learn several tools to begin rewriting them.
This workshop is for anyone who feels that they just can’t make the breakthrough they want and don’t know why, the person who has their inner critic playing on repeat in their head, and the person who is still trying to live for other people and doesn’t know how to shift that.
